What is plains of san agustin?

The Plains of San Agustin is a vast, high desert plateau in central New Mexico, spanning over 50 miles between the San Augustine Mountains to the east and the Datil Mountains to the west. The area has an elevation of around 7,000 feet above sea level and offers panoramic views of miles and miles of expansive grasslands and rolling hills.

The Plains of San Agustin is known for its unique geological features, including the Very Large Array, a collection of 27 radio telescopes used for astronomical observations, and the mysterious "Roswell incident" which occurred in 1947, where a UFO was allegedly discovered and covered up by the US government.

The area is also rich in history and is home to various indigenous Puebloan ruins and petroglyphs, as well as Spanish colonial-era structures.
